The Gruen watch with the reference number 335-723 is a vintage Gruen Barclay wristwatch, often called the "Spider" watch by collectors due to its distinct, narrow, twisted lugs. This model was produced in the 1950s and is a sought-after collector's item. Features original champagne dial with gold hour markers, bold minue track and gold matching hands
About the brand: Founded in Ohio - Gruen was one of the largest American watch manufacturers for the greater part of the 20th century. In fact, shortly after their relocation to Cincinnati, Gruen became the number one selling watch brand in the US. Like many brands - their factory in Time Hill ceased production of wristwatches and produced contracted military watches for the US Military in WW2. After the war, the flood of Swiss import watches had a disastrous effect on Gruen, and the brand ultimately closed its doors in 1977. Today, their wonderful line of vintage watches such as the Airflight, and Curvex models are all that remains of this once great brand.
