The Rolex Explorer II ref. 16550 is one of the most sought-after vintage Explorer II models among collectors, prized in particular for its rare "Spider Dial" — a glossy black dial whose tritium lume plots have developed a distinctive cracked, web-like patina over time. This aging effect, caused by the natural degradation of the tritium compound beneath the surface, gives each Spider Dial a unique appearance, making no two examples exactly alike.
